Faith Ringgold Story Quilts

Alright art friends, hope you are ready for the next three weeks of school because we are going to kick some storytelling butt. Each of you, in grades 4-6 need to starting thinking of your very best and all time favorite memories. We are working together to create a story quilt inspired by Faith Ringgold. Everyone of you has heard of Faith but in the coming weeks we are going to get to know her even better. Please watch the short video below to familiarize yourself with her awesomeness.

Texture Challenge

Art Students of Westwood: Listen Up!
Holiday Challenge

We've been learning a lot about visual and actual texture. Next week, we will be exploring the surface of many different objects. I challenge you to bring several found objects to class, next week, that have different kinds of textures. Remember the adjectives we used to describe how things feel such as, bumpy, rough, smooth, slimy, prickly, fuzzy and hairy. Some suggestions: leaves, coins, fabric and any other object that you can slide under a piece of paper for a texture rubbing. The images below are great examples of various kinds of texture. How would describe these objects?
